Item ID: 1793 - Walter Durfee 8 Bell 5 Gong, Pattern 38 V1, Grandfather Clock. Ca. 1890. The Pattern 38 case with spiral columns on the bonnet, waist and base, gilt brass corinthian capitols, broken arch top with rosettes and brass finials is usually seen with a 2 train, time and strike movement with moon dial. This Pattern 38 V1 has the identical case but the 3 train movement playing on Whittington chime on 8 cup bells and Westminster chime on 4 gongs and striking the hour on a larger gong, and has chime selector and chime silent hands and dials instead of the moon dial. The 8' 4" tall, 24" wide and 14" deep oak case has fine original finish. The dial has been expertly restored. The movement has been serviced. The clock is in very fine condition in every way.
