Chelsea 8 1/2" Mahogany & Metal (aka Commander) Ships Bell Clock. The Special Dial has very unusual raised black oxide numerals and hands. Note the rare, early, oversized hour hand that was discontinued about 1906. The original surface dial is signed J. Kirkpatrick, New York. The movement and case are stamped with serial number 15021 dating the clock to 12/10/04. The mahogany base is finished in ebony and complements the black oxide numerals and hands perfectly. The movement has been overhauled, keeps excellent time and has fine Chelsea ships bell sound. Please view the photos carefully to appreciate the details of this fine early Chelsea.
